Mentoring

Mentoring is an essential relationship for those in medicine and those following Jesus. As young learners are growing in their medical knowledge, they also need to be growing in their understanding of their faith. We cannot emphasize enough the importance of Christian mentoring in healthcare. While facing the normal temptations and struggles of life, those in healthcare also face unique challenges with time, ethics, finances and  burnout.

If you are a practitioner we encourage you to follow Jesus' example. "When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. “You call me ‘Teacher and ‘Lord, and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one anothers feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”

And if you are a student or trainee, Proverbs 13:14 says "The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death."

If you are interested in being a mentor, we have resources to help you with that. If you feel called to mentoring more formally, TCMDA has established a plan for helping you connect with trainees and for helping you pass along your Godly wisdom to the next generation.

If you are a trainee, let us help you connect with someone committed to helping you grow in both faith and medicine.
