For Parents
A word from a recent grad
This page is for parents of students involved with TCMDA at Duke, UNC, Campbell or somewhere else in the Triangle. What is TCMDA anyway and should by student be involved?
TCMDA is the Triangle Chapter of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations serving Duke, UNC, Campbell and the greater Triangle area through the universities, clinics and hospitals.
On Campus it has taken on many forms over the years including small groups, prayer groups, dinners, educational opportunities, mentoring, worship and missions. TCMDA is here to help Christian students be in community, have support, and live out their vocation for the Lord. We want to help them understand and experience God's will for them in medicine.
In the community we help connect and facilitate opportunities for discipleship, integration of faith in healthcare, missions and more. TCMDA is for anyone in healthcare from the undergrad pre-med or nursing student to the retiree.

So what is CMDA?
Christian Medical and Dental Associations is the nation's largest group of Christian ministries specifically for healthcare students and professionals. Almost 90 years old with 20k members, we network and support those in healthcare around the country. Our ministries include:
Missions
Job Placement
Ethics Hotline
Legal Help
Student Ministry, Resident Ministry, Specialty Groups, Fellowship Opportunities, Conferences and Trainings, And much more
Through TCMDA, students are able to interact and learn from Christians in their field and other fields. There are opportunities for shadowing, mentoring and discipleship. We also provide opportunities for ministry around the community and around the world. Many students will tell you the their TCMDA group really helped them survive and thrive through their training years and beyond. CMDA goes way beyond training and has created a network of believers in healthcare around the country for a lifetime of friendships, encouragement and integration of faith and medicine.

We are also here to provide pastoral care in times of crisis, help with finding a church and career advice for navigating the healthcare vocational maze. If you ever have questions, please just email Corey Whittaker, our Area Director, at corey.whittaker@cmda.org.
How can you help?
Pray for us
If you are local, get involved by hosting, discipling, speaking
Through financial support. We are big on buying lunch for student groups because it gathers more people and there is something more personal about eating together. We provide hundreds of lunches for meetings each month. At $7-$12 per person, that adds up quickly.
